PRESERVE STUDIO

Project Overview

As part of the Nippon Paint Competition, we need to use colors from the Nippon Paint Selection catalog and incorporate it with our proposed design.

As it was also part of our school project, we were allowed to select our own site and come out with programs that can suit the site.

Thus I have chosen part of Tiong Bahru Community Centre to design a cooking studio.

Design Intent

Preserve Studio serves as an educational space where activities such as cooking and preparation of food can be enjoyed across many generations. It is similar to a culinary school, however, its main purpose is to create chances for social bonds across generations and for them to learn about Singapore's Food History through the making process and food tasting. Preserve Studio aims to help create new memories and bonds through understanding the essence of the past.

As the Tiong Bahru Community Centre is the 7th checkpoint of the Heritage Trail, it is an ideal location to set up Preserve Studio for people to stop by and learn more about Singapore's Food as part of the trail. The spaces aim to bring in hawkers, chefs or the experienced to conduct cooking sessions.
